Best Food for Stomach Ache

When you are not feeling well because of an upset stomach, do not immediately drink medicine to cure it, instead eat the right food for it. If food could be a remedy, then you don’t need to drink medicine that may cause side effects. Food is still the best and healthy aid especially for stomach ache. However, you must be careful to choose the food you will eat. Have an intensive research about it beforehand.

Here are some of the foods that can soothes an upset stomach:

Saltine Crackers. This type of cracker can help lessen or neutralize, through absorption, the acid and toxins that caused your stomach to be upset.

Rice. Starchy foods like rice are a great help to cover the lining of the stomach which may ease digestion and soothe the pain. If you’re outside the house; office, school, or elsewhere, you may biscuits, bread, and others alike.

Banana. It contains high potassium that helps lessen stomach cramps and morning sickness. You may also need it if you have been dehydrated after a diarrhea or vomiting. Like starchy foods, this fruit also help reduce acid-reflux.

Whatever sickness you may have, if there are foods that can help you with it, use them for your own good. Think twice over medicine that can even add up negative effects in your body. Don’t depend merely on medicine if you can depend on healthy foods that can replace most of it.

What to Eat for Your Heart, Kidney, and Blood

I intended to write this post for people with diabetes, heart disease, and chronic kidney disease. In order to help you in making your life less complicated when dealing with food, I recommend these food and recipes that are suitable and beneficial for your condition that you can try to cook or prepare.

What to eat... when you have diabetes?

Even if you are in a serious condition, you can still live your life happy if you know how to manage your condition. You just have to know the right food to eat for a healthy lifestyle. With proper preparation and ingredients, professional suggests that the best food you should eat when you have diabetes are beans, oatmeal, fish like wild salmon, egg whites nonfat yogurt, unsalted almonds, non-starchy vegetables, avocado, and others. However, the best and tasty recipe I recommend that you can cook for yourself is the Spanish Omelet. Visit the link for the ingredients and procedures from NDEP.

What to eat... when you have heart disease?

Cardiovascular disease or heart disease is associated with any disease that affects the cardiovascular system. To avoid any conflict with your condition, try not to eat food that are loaded with saturated and trans-fats, and avoid salty food to keep a normal blood pressure. While the best food to eat in the condition you have are blueberries, salmon, soy protein, oatmeal, spinach, and other heart-healthy food. A combination of these food is good, so I suggest Honey-Soy Broiled Salmon recipe from EatingWell.

What to eat... when you chronic kidney disease?

Chronic kidney disease is most commonly caused by diabetes or high blood pressure. It means that you should be as well be careful of what you eat when you have this condition. Give up high in potassium food that can further damage your kidney like bananas, mushrooms, and nuts. It is recommended to eat vegetables such as cauliflower, red bell peppers, onion, cabbage, and garlic, fruits such as cherries, strawberries, cranberries, apples, raspberries, and cherries. I recommend Fettuccine in a Low Fat Sauce recipe from Kidney Food.

What we eat affects our body, so let us always take into account everything we take in our system. In case that you are in conditions stated above, you must research beforehand the food you want to eat.

The Lovable Tomato!

One of the best childhood memories I have is when I was eating tomatoes like almost everyday. I love tomatoes - no doubt! Until now, I always eat tomatoes especially when they are raw and fresh without knowing its benefits, aside from one fact that it can keep the skin healthy.

Let me just share more information about tomato. Solanum lycopersicum is its scientific name. It is a botanical fruit and at the same time a vegetable for culinary. Since I love fruits and vegetables, maybe this is the reason why I love tomato so much. It has seven color varieties - red, pink, orange, yellow, white, green, and purple/black. Though, no matter what color it has, the outstanding amount of lycopene is still the same.

What Makes It Lovable?

This “superfood” is known for its excellent amount of disease-fighting antioxidant contents. It has been proven to prevent cancer, heart diseases, and lower high cholesterol. Researchers also found that its antioxidant properties has significant effects on the bone health. Exclusion of tomato in your diet may also increase the risk of osteoporosis. Other studies have found that tomato can inhibit the development of various kinds of cancer cells such as endometrial and breast cancer cells, colon cancer cells, and prostate carcinoma cells and the growth of cataract.

Significant Nutritional Facts (in 180.00 grams raw tomato)
  • Vitamin A - 29.9% Good for the eyes and skin.
  • Vitamin K - 17.7% Helps the blood to clot.
  • Potassium - 12.1% Necessary for our body organs to perform well.
  • Fiber - 8.6% Good for diet.
  • Vitamin B6 - 7% To maintain a healthy brain.
  • Folate - 6.7% Helps to produce cells and keep them to work properly.
Warning

Excessive intake of tomato especially tomato juice can make your skin and liver colored orange-yellow. It is a skin discoloration which is called lycopenodermia. However, this skin condition is harmless.

I love tomato now more than ever. Especially now that I know more about its benefits. Indeed, it is extremely lovable like no other.

APPLE. “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” And it surely does because the apple is the number one fruit that can improve your heart and keep it healthy. It has flavonoids that can lower your cholesterol and can cut platelets adherence in your arteries. You can eat an apple fresh or you can include it in your daily meals through healthy desserts like Apple Pie, Apple Tart, and Apple Cake.

PRUNES. A distinct kind of plum that can add flavor to your diet and give you abundant antioxidants. Plum, being rich in antioxidants, can protect your body’s cells, strengthens your heart and cell membrane, fights viruses and bacteria. And like cherries, they also help reduce the risk of cancer. Coffee: Its Benefits and Risks

Coffee is one my favorite drinks, for no other reason. I love its bitter taste. However, people told me that drinking coffee is not good for me because I am experiencing gastrointestinal problems. What I only know is that it has acid that can make my stomach and intestine weaker. I became so curious that leads me to research the most important things about coffee - the benefits and risks of drinking it. Let me share what I found out.

Benefits:

Increase of short-term memory. If you want to have a more active memory, regularly drinking coffee is one of the best and affordable solutions you can have.

Increase fast result of analgesic drugs. If you have migraine or headache, take coffee and analgesic drug at the same time. It will surely make you feel better faster than the usual.

Reduce plaque formation. Coffee has tannins that lessen cariogenic which produces development of tooth decay. Experiment shows that these polyphenolic compounds may prevent the formation of dental plaque.

Risks:

Gastrointestinal problems. Coffee stimulates the generation of stomach acids which causes the damage on gastrointestinal organs lining. So drinking coffee is not commendable to those who have gastritis, ulcer, or colitis.

Nervousness, anxiety, and irritability. Too much drinking of coffee may result to anxiety and annoyance. This is because of the caffeine it has that can over-stimulate the state of the central nervous system if taken excessively.

Sleep disorder. One of the reasons of sleeping problems like insomnia and narcolepsy is the excessive drinking of coffee. Sleeping would be very hard for you after drinking coffee, because of its caffeine which acts as a stimulant that can make you stay alert and active.

*Doctors suggest pregnant women to avoid drinking coffee for it can lead to stillbirth.

After this thorough research, I think it is not indeed recommended for me to drink coffee to avoid digestive disorders. For those who do not have any stomach problems, you can freely grab these benefits that coffee has for you. Moderate drinking is still recommended.
